The conservative-majority Supreme Court of the United States has officially overturned both Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, bringing an end to constitutional protections for abortions. Friday’s ruling means that the decision regarding abortion access will instead be left to individual states. Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett issued the majority opinion. Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan dissented.Read more

Sharyl McFarland is a Milwaukee organizer who has spent decades working for social justice and human rights. Her work addresses problems including voter suppression, racial inequalities, mass incarceration, homelessness, rights for immigrants, poverty, the lack of adequate transportation, healthcare, and more.
To get Sharyl on the ballot, we need 2000 verified signatures from eligible Wisconsin voters. In order to have a safe margin to overcome any potential challenges, we’ve set a goal of 2500. We need a little over 100 signatures per day between now and June 1st to achieve our goal. That’s doable - but only if everyone who’s able to help does their part.Read more
Wisconsin Green Party endorses Sharyl McFarland for Secretary of State
Today the Wisconsin Green Party announced that it has endorsed Sharyl McFarland for Secretary of State in the 2022 election.
Sharyl McFarland is a Milwaukee organizer who has spent decades working for social justice and human rights. Her advocacy work addresses problems common in Wisconsin and across the United States, including voter suppression, racial inequalities, mass incarceration, homelessness, rights for immigrants, poverty, the lack of adequate transportation, healthcare, and more.
“I identify with the people who want their government to listen and include them in discussions that affect their daily lives,” said McFarland. “It is my belief that ‘those closest to the problems are closest to the solutions but have the least amount of resources’. All people have value. We have the responsibility to exercise our right for democracy.”
“The Green Party’s values are in line with my own values,” said McFarland. “I have become dissatisfied with what is happening in the world and in government. I am not satisfied with the people I have voted into public service.
The Green Party is now petitioning to put Sharyl McFarland on Wisconsin’s ballot for Secretary of State in the November 2022 election. They need 2,000 valid signatures by June 1st.
The Green Party is looking for volunteers to help gather signatures, and is willing to pay people to petition as well. Sign up here if you are interested in petitioning.

The Wisconsin Green Party is currently seeking candidates for 2022 elections.
Recent polls show over 60% of US voters believe the Democratic and Republican parties are doing such a terrible job that a new major party is needed.
The time is right to build a party for the people - but we need candidates to make it happen.Read more
The theme of the gathering will be "No to War, Yes to Peace" and we're excited to welcome special guest speaker Matt Hoh, former Marine turned antiwar leader and 2022 Green Party candidate for US Senate in North Carolina.
We will also hear from candidates seeking WI Green Party endorsement in 2022 elections.
From the Four Lakes Green Party:
The Dane County Board is voting tonight on a resolution that would massively expand spending on the already-bloated Dane County Jail expansion project - a huge investment in mass incarceration that belies county officials' talk about seeking meaningful alternatives to mass incarceration.
Please read the below message from our friends in the Decarcerate Dane coalition, and take action against expanding mass incarceration in our community before 6:25pm tonight!
$24 million more for an already-too-expensive jail is back on the council agenda this week. Join us in saying CARE, NOT CAGES!Read more
Join the Four Lakes Greens, CODEPINK, Veterans for Peace, Progressive Dane, Madison Democratic Socialists of America, Safe Skies Clean Water Wisconsin, No F-35 Action Faction, and our antiwar allies on February 5, 2022 at noon on the Capital Square near State Street to demand an end to the drumbeat of war with Russia over Ukraine!
We will gather by the Capitol steps near State Street with signs and noisemakers to protest and resist the normalization of war and demand that not a single bullet or gun be sent to Ukraine! No New Troops or Arms to Eastern Europe! Diplomacy not war!
After gathering at the Capitol, we will cross the street for a picket outside Senator Tammy Baldwin's office at 30 W Mifflin to demand she and other WI representatives oppose the bill to send $500M in weapons to Ukraine, and to protest her support for basing F-35 fighter jets in Madison.

The Wisconsin Green Party supports regulations to limit the amount of cancer-causing PFAS chemicals in our water. These so-called “forever chemicals” are clearly linked to life-threatening diseases, and even tiny trace amounts can cause deadly harm to human and animal health.
We call on all Wisconsinites to submit public comments to the Department of Natural Resources by the deadline of Tuesday, January 11th, supporting the strictest possible rules to reduce the amount of PFAS in our water as close as possible to zero.
Please submit a comment to the DNR today.
You can see the full text of the proposed rule here.Read more
Wisconsin Green Party (WIGP) Co-Chair Jo’Nathan Kingfisher said the not-guilty verdict in the homicide trial of Kyle Rittenhouse “is a bright green light that it is open season on political targets.”
Rittenhouse was acquitted of all charges in the shooting deaths of Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, and the wounding of Gaige Grosskreutz, now 28.
The verdict “is a clear message for political vigilantes to go intimidate and instigate, trying to get a reaction and try to kill in the name of self-defense,” Kingfisher said.Read more
