The Wisconsin Green Party stands with Physicians for Social Responsibility in opposing the proposed license extension for Point Beach Nuclear Plant in Two Rivers, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. We call on concerned citizens to submit written opposition in public comment to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission by Wednesday 3/3 before 10:59 pm about environmental and safety concerns regarding the Point Beach nuclear reactors. - Your comment should if possible list a media or scientific reference to back up each concern. The Wisconsin Green Party has endorsed James O'Neill for Baraboo School Board. James is a parent, IT professional, small business owner, activist, and lifelong learner. In his own words, he is running because "As a Human Right education is the most important thing we invest our time and money in because it forms the universal bedrock for equality, creativity, innovation, progress, peace, class mobility, and the ability of individuals to pursue a fulfilling life and to be able to make a difference within Humanity." James is running for Baraboo School Board on a platform of empowering and supporting parents, empowering and supporting teachers, increasing transparency, reducing socioeconomic inequality, and ending destruction of education through government. The Wisconsin Green Party encourages Baraboo voters to learn more about James O'Neill and support his campaign for Baraboo School Board.

For some of you the name Alex Brower might ring a bell.  If so, that is because Brower was, not too long ago, endorsed by the Milwaukee Greens to run for City of Milwaukee Comptroller on a socialist platform including municipalizing our energy system, which is currently owned and controlled by the monopoly, We Energies.  Alex Brower is a fine organizer in many spaces, and he has decided to run for Milwaukee School Board this spring 2021.   While these positions may seem completely different to each other, Brower not only has experience in finance and banking which made him such a fantastic comptroller candidate, but also has a history with MPS.  Alex Brower was formerly a substitute teacher in the schools, became a union president, and even went on a hunger strike to secure healthcare benefits for substitute teachers.  A carryover from his comptroller campaign, Alex Brower still holds in his platform that private voucher and charter schools need to be held accountable.  He has helped to keep public funding for public use by thwarting the privatization of public school jobs, and would continue that fight.  Continue reading

Conklin, running in District 9 on the far West side of Madison, and Kemble in the North side’s District 18, were chosen unanimously as the best candidates to advance Green values of grassroots democracy, social justice, nonviolence, and ecological sustainability in their hotly contested Common Council races. The Wisconsin Green Party denounces the decision of the Kenosha District Attorney to not file charges against the police officer who shot Jacob Blake 7 times in the back, a shameful continuation of a long history of police impunity for violence against Black, indigenous, and people of color in Wisconsin and the United States. Kenosha District Attorney Michael Gravely said that officer Rusten Sheskey acted in self-defense when he shot Jacob Blake 7 times in the back, claiming Blake was holding a knife. However, a video of the incident seen around the world provides no support for the claim that Blake was endangering Sheskey’s life before he was shot repeatedly in the back trying to enter his car with his children watching. Blake was not charged with attempted assault, calling Sheskey’s claim of self-defense into question. Also, Sheskey and his fellow officers were not wearing body cameras, resulting in a critical lack of video evidence that could either prove or disprove Sheskey’s claims. The result, yet again, is law enforcement investigating itself for use of lethal force against Black people, and yet again declaring itself completely innocent. Continue reading
