This I Believe

Recently I had the opportunity to watch the video WISN posted online about Matthew Arndt. One thing I liked about Matthew before this incident was his passion in arguing against something he felt to be wrong. Clearly Matthew believes that indiscriminate killing people and stealing land through armed force was wrong. As do I. Clearly a “F**k Hamas” bumper sticker does not stop the spread of hate in our communities.

Based on what was shown in the segment I still believe that Matthew Arndt is the better candidate for office. Too often politicians tell us they didn’t mean what they said, as President Trump does. Or we see a politician misunderstand a fact, publicly call a person a dirt bag and refuse to apologize when the truth comes out. It takes a true man to admit he wished he had acted differently and apologize. I don’t believe a person must be perfect to represent their community.

In the recent past, the law has been weaponized against the Wisconsin Green Party. In the last Presidential election a Democratic Party operative filed a lawsuit to prevent the election of presidential electors, if the citizens of Wisconsin decided they wanted the Green Party nominee to receive their electoral votes. So I see the claim of road rage to be just a claim until proof is provided that stands up in a court of law.

I have grown tired of campaign ads that seek to smear a candidate's character and divide Americans for political gain. I judge a candidate on their ability to express how we can work together to be a better country. If of anyone wants a full idea of Matt, then I encourage you to watch his performance at recent candidate forums like the one set up by the League of Women Voters.

To politicans of both the Party of Trump and corporate Democrats, the Wisconsin Green Party is a threat. We believe in government of the people, by the people, for the people. Not the rich, not the violent, not corporations. Therefore, even though I have been elected to be a co-Chair, I do not have the right to speak for the Wisconsin Green Party as a whole. But I have every right to explain why I believe that Matthew Arndt is still the best candidate in his race.
