Milwaukee East Siders: Vote Tuesday for Josh Anderson for Alderman - District 3

If you live in Milwaukee's East Side or Riverwest neighborhoods, you likely know there's a special election Tuesday. This will fill a vacant seat on the city's Common Council, and there are eight candidates seeking to fill the seat.  The Wisconsin Green Party strongly urges you to vote for Joshua Anderson for City Council in the Third District. Josh best represents Green values in this race. His campaign has addressed these issues: Public Housing: If tenants had control over (housing authority) day-to-day operations, we never would have been in this mess.” Creating a public energy utility, replacing WE Energies: “When profit is the first priority, people will not be served.” Money in politics and other electoral reforms: “While there are many reforms needed to re-empower ordinary people to take control of their democracy, removing the ability of corporations to buy elections is a good start.” The anti-nuclear weapons "Back from the Brink" resolution: “No one benefits from nuclear war besides the giant corporations that profit from building weapons that can never be used." Opposing state laws that prevent cities from protecting working people's rights: “We shudder to think what the legislature might say if the Common Council passed a wealth tax on millionaires to fund programs to make life more livable for the vast majority of city residents.” In a crowded primary in a low-turnout election, anything is possible. Green voters should turn out Tuesday and advance Josh Anderson to the April 1 general election! We stand with them, especially those who have been arrested, beaten and jailed for their participation in these encampments at UW-Madison, Columbia University, UCLA, Portland State, and elsewhere. Wisconsin Green Party Responds to New Legislative Maps

The Wisconsin Green Party (WIGP) welcomes the new legislative maps recently signed by Governor Evers. We recognize that these maps can help put an end to the Republican gerrymandering that has distorted the representation of the people of Wisconsin during the past decade. We believe that these maps are fairer and more accurate than the previous ones, and that they will give more voice and choice to Wisconsin voters in upcoming elections. Continue reading

Four Lakes Green Party Co-Chairs respond to Capitol Times Op-Ed

Spencer Black's June 27, 2023 opinion piece labels Cornel West’s third-party presidential campaign as “misguided,” citing Ralph Nader’s 2000 presidential campaign as an instance of how a Green Party presidential candidate can “spoil” elections for Democrats. Black asserts that Nader "took enough votes away from Gore to elect Bush," attributing Gore's loss in Florida, and consequently the election, to Nader's influence. Continue reading

Ensuring Education Equality in Wisconsin: Responding to Discrimination in Voucher Schools

Today, we wish to address a critical issue brought to light by a recent article in Wisconsin Watch, titled "Wisconsin Voucher Schools: Discrimination Against LGBTQ+ and Students with Disabilities". As a party that proudly upholds social justice, we cannot remain silent in the face of these disturbing revelations. The publicly-funded voucher schools fostering an environment of discrimination against LGBTQ+ students and those with disabilities directly contravene the foundational principles of fairness, respect, and equality that we, as Wisconsinites, strive to uphold.
